Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, on Sunday described the 2026 Hajj inaugural flight from Gateway International Airport, Iperu, as a historic milestone.
The first batch of pilgrims departed directly to Saudi Arabia, marking the airport’s first-ever international flight. The governor noted that the pilgrims also boarded the largest aircraft to land at the airport, highlighting its growing global standard.
He added that the development reinforces the state’s vision to position the airport as a major hub for international travel and pilgrimage operations in the Southwest.
