The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 23-year-old man, Adeshola Muyiwa, for allegedly carrying out a series of fake bank transfer frauds across Agbado and neighbouring communities.
According to police sources, Muyiwa was apprehended on May 17, 2026, at about 11:45 a.m. by detectives from the Agbado Division led by Divisional Police Officer, CSP Adesanya Oyekanmi. His arrest followed a report earlier that morning when he purchased food worth ₦2,600 from a vendor at Owolanwa Junction, Agbado, and presented a fraudulent transfer alert as proof of payment.
Investigations revealed that the suspect had been operating a consistent pattern of fake and scheduled transfer scams, targeting unsuspecting traders and residents. During interrogation, Muyiwa reportedly confessed to engaging in the fraudulent activity for some time, with proceeds allegedly amounting to about ₦10 million.
Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, praised the swift response and professionalism of the Agbado Division officers. He emphasized the Command’s determination to intensify the fight against financial and cyber-enabled crimes across the state.
Ojajuni also urged traders and business owners to verify payment receipts through banking applications or account statements before releasing goods or services, warning that fraudsters often exploit trust and haste in transactions.
The Police Command encouraged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through its emergency lines: Gateway Shield (Toll-Free): 0800 000 9111; Emergency Lines: 0906 283 7609, 0912 014 1706, 0915 102 7369, 0708 497 2994.
