The institutions’ Vice Chancellor, Professor Olusola Kehinde revealed this on Wednesday at a press briefing held at the school’s red chamber.
While addressing the press, he also added that the institution matriculated 6,356 new students for the current session, making it the largest intake in nearly 40 years.
“Once again, I say congratulations to our graduating class,” Prof Professor Olusola Babatunde Kehinde declared, hailing the cohort as “competent, disciplined, and well-cultured graduates” ready to excel in diverse fields.
Among the 4,141 first-degree graduands, the 104 First Class stars shine brightly, alongside 1,771 Second Class Upper Division holders and 41 unclassified Veterinary Medicine degrees.
The VC therefore spotlighted standout performer, Osiano Chinyere, from the Department of Food Science and Technology, who clinched the title of best graduating student with a remarkable 4.85 CGPA.
“She’s the best graduating student for the 2024-2025 academic session,” Prof. Kehinde announced, using her achievement to illustrate the high standards FUNAAB upholds across its 11 colleges.
This graduating class also includes 69 part-time students and higher degree earners: 49 Postgraduate Diplomas, 164 Masters, and 89 PhDs.
“We proudly release these accomplished individuals as a new generation of innovative entrepreneurs, skilled professionals, visionary leaders, and talented change-makers,” the VC said, emphasizing how the university’s programs prepare students for real-world challenges like food security and climate resilience.
The historic matriculation reflects FUNAAB’s expansion, now boasting 44 programs across 55 departments following full National Universities Commission, NUC, accreditation in 2025.
“This session, the University matriculated 6,356 students, marking the highest intake in nearly four decades,” Prof. Kehinde noted, attributing the surge to new offerings like B.Sc. Climate Science and Agricultural Meteorology.
In the same vein, he said students success has been bolstered by financial aids, including the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, NELFUND, which supported nearly 5,000 students with N840 million.
“NELFUND has given close to 5000 students with 840 million allocations,” the VC revealed, stressing that FUNAAB refunded charges without deductions, ensuring accessibility.
He therefore added that “this joyous occasion transcends academics; it is a vibrant celebration that unites people from diverse backgrounds to honour institutional and individual achievements,” Prof. Kehinde reflected
