The Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Her Excellency, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, FNSE, visited the scene of the tragic accident at Ota Toll‑Gate, which claimed multiple lives and left several others injured. The visit was aimed at offering heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and assessing the situation on ground.
Upon arrival, the Deputy Governor was received by the Executive Chairman of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Hon. Lawal Adewale Wasiu, FCA, the Olota of Ota Aworiland, HRM Oba Abdulkabir Adeyemi Obalanlege Lanlege Ekun II, the Onijana of Ijana Ota, Oba Clement Olusegun Akinyemi Governor liason officer Chief Mrs Ogunbiyi Waliat, and heads of security and emergency response agencies, including the Nigerian Navy, Nigeria Police Force, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and TRACE officers.
She expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and prayed for strength and comfort for the bereaved families. In her remarks, the Deputy Governor described the incident as a painful reminder of the need for stricter compliance with road safety standards, particularly by operators of heavy‑duty vehicles. She called on relevant agencies to intensify enforcement of traffic regulations, especially around the Sango‑Ota and Toll‑Gate axis, to prevent such tragedies in the future.
The Deputy Governor appreciated the Local Government Chairman and all security agencies for their swift response. She further directed emergency responders to ensure that those injured receive adequate medical attention and urged security agencies to maintain order and clear obstructions from the highway to safeguard commuters.
She reaffirmed the commitment of the Ogun State Government to road safety, noting that measures will be strengthened to protect lives and property across the state.
