As the world celebrates International Women’s Day 2026, Dr. Bolaji Marie Odusina has extended warm greetings to women across Nigeria, particularly in Ogun State, while calling on individuals, organizations, and government institutions to embrace the spirit of “Give to Gain” by investing in the empowerment and wellbeing of women.
Dr. Bolaji noted that the theme “Give to Gain” reflects the importance of collective support and commitment toward creating opportunities for women to thrive. According to her, when society gives support, education, healthcare, and opportunities to women, the entire community gains progress, stability, and prosperity.
Speaking on the significance of the day, Dr. Bolaji described women as pillars of the family and key drivers of economic and social development.
“Women play a vital role in shaping families, communities, and the nation. When we give women the support they deserve—through access to education, healthcare, economic empowerment, and leadership opportunities—we gain a stronger and more prosperous society,” she stated
Dr. Bolaji further emphasized the need to continually support initiatives that promote gender equality, maternal health, entrepreneurship among women, and the protection of the rights of the girl child.
“In Ogun State, I have seen this truth in action. During my medical mission in remote communities, I listened to mothers who walk kilometres for basic healthcare. One young woman shared how lack of access almost cost her child’s life. Her story mirrors thousands across our state, where maternal health challenges remain real. Yet, when we give support, we gain stronger families and healthier communities, ” she reveals.
She reaffirmed her commitment to programs and initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of women, particularly in areas such as healthcare support, skills development, and community empowerment.
“The message of this year’s celebration is clear: when we give support to women, we gain a better future for our families, communities, and the next generation,” Dr. Bolaji added.
Dr. Bolaji encouraged women to continue to lead, inspire, and contribute meaningfully to society while assuring them of her continuous support for policies and initiatives that promote their advancement.
“As a proud daughter of Ogun State and an aspirant for Ogun State governorship come 2027, I believe true progress begins with “Ilera Ati Itesiwaju” — health and advancement. My global experience has taught me that empowering women is the fastest way to transform any society. ”
She concluded by wishing all women in Ogun State and across Nigeria a joyful and impactful International Women’s Day celebration.
