Dr. Bolaji Marie Odusina Visits Tikilo Community, Pledges Establishment of Modern Garri Ijebu Processing Factory

Date:

Dr. Bolaji Marie Odusina has reaffirmed her commitment to grassroots development and economic empowerment during a recent visit to the Tikilo community in Ijebu Igbo, located within Ijebu North Local Government Area.

The visit, which drew community leaders, farmers, youth groups, and women stakeholders, provided an opportunity for direct engagement and discussion on key development needs of the area.

Addressing residents, Dr. Odusina announced plans to support the establishment of a modern Garri Ijebu factory Tikilo (GIFT), aimed at boosting local production, improving value chains, and creating sustainable economic opportunities.

“Tikilo has great potential, especially in agriculture,” she stated. “By establishing a modern Garri Ijebu processing factory here, we will not only add value to local cassava production but also create jobs, empower women, and strengthen the local economy.”

She emphasized that the initiative is part of a broader vision to promote agro-industrial development, support rural communities, and reduce post-harvest losses through improved processing and storage systems.

“I understand the challenges and impasses many communities face — lack of government presence, poor infrastructure, and limited economic opportunities. When elected Governor in 2027, I promise even development across every ward and community. No part of Ogun State will be left behind. Government presence will be felt through functional projects, not just promises.I remain committed to the progress and prosperity of our people, she promised.

Community leaders welcomed the announcement, describing it as timely and impactful. Many noted that cassava farming remains a major economic activity in the area, but limited processing facilities have hindered growth and profitability.

Dr. Odusina also used the opportunity to interact with local farmers and traders, listening to their concerns and assuring them of inclusive policies that will prioritize their welfare and productivity.

“Our goal is to build a system that works for everyone—from the farmer in the field to the trader in the market,” she said. “Development must start from the grassroots, and Tikilo is an important part of that vision.”

The proposed factory is expected to introduce modern processing techniques, improve product quality, and enhance the competitiveness of Garri Ijebu in both local and international markets.

Residents expressed optimism that the project would transform the community, attract investment, and provide employment opportunities for young people.
