EYO CARNIVAL IPERU 2026: ORGANIZER UNVEILS LIST OF REGISTERED IGAS, HOLDS PRESS CONFERENCE

As preparations intensify for the much-anticipated Eyo Carnival Iperu 2026, the Planning Committee is pleased to officially present the list of registered Igas that will participate in this year Eyo grand procession.
This year’s carnival promises to be a remarkable cultural showcase, aimed at preserving, promoting, and projecting the rich heritage of the Eyo tradition in Iperu, while also telling the authentic story of its origin and historical significance in Nigeria. The procession of the Igas remains a central and symbolic feature of the Eyo spectacle, reflecting lineage, honor, and cultural identity.
Below is the official list of the 14 registered Igas for the 2026 Eyo Carnival procession in Iperu:

2. Iga Odoru
3. Iga Agbonmagbe
4. Iga Fibigbuwa
5. Iga Mogunshen Amororo
6. Iga Imeji
7. Iga Agbehinsha
8. Iga Iregun
9. Iga Olotu Erelu
10. Iga Amororo
11. Iga Balogun Adebutu
12. Iga Oba Moibi Akinsanya
13. Iga Jalugba
14. Iga Sosan
This year’s Eyo procession is set to be a vibrant convergence of tradition, culture, unity, and pride, as each Iga brings its unique identity and historical relevance to spotlight.
The Eyo Carnival Committee today, Monday, April 13th, 2026, hosted a well attended press conference at Egbeda, Lagos State, as part of preparations for the forthcoming Eyo Carnival.
The strategic media engagement brought together journalists and representatives from leading media organizations. The event provided a vital platform to spotlight the authenticity, cultural significance, and historical depth of the Eyo heritage in Nigeria.
Addressing the press, the Chairman of the Eyo Carnival Committee, Omooba Taiwo Gbenga Owokalade Esq, emphasized the importance of telling the untold stories surrounding the Eyo tradition, while reinforcing its validity as a cherished cultural legacy. The engagement also served to build awareness and generate public interest ahead of the highly anticipated Eyo Carnival Iperu 2026.
The press conference recorded significant success, with the presence of key members of the Eyo Carnival Committee. Leading the delegation was the Chairman, Omooba Taiwo Gbenga Owokalade, Esq., alongside the Vice Chairman, Dr. Mrs. Remi Runsewe, Assistant General Secretary, Mr Taiwo Awoyemi . Also in attendance were the Eyo Carnival Committee Media Team, Comrade Azeez Akinbowale, and Mr. Akinlarin AbdulHakeem, CEO of Sureness Radio Iperu.
The Committee reaffirmed its commitment to promoting and preserving the rich cultural heritage of Eyo while ensuring a memorable and impactful carnival experience.
