Egba Computer Village Nears Completion as Abeokuta North Intensifies Economic Drive

Date:

The Abeokuta North Local Government has reaffirmed its commitment to grassroots economic development as work steadily progresses on the highly anticipated Egba Computer Village project in Olomore, Abeokuta.

Chairman of the council, Hon. Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo, made this known during an inspection visit to the site alongside the Ogun State Commissioner for Urban and Physical Planning, TPL Tunji Odunlami. The visit underscored the administration’s determination to deliver a modern commercial hub tailored to meet the growing demands of the ICT and gadget market.

Describing the project as “all-important,” Oyegbola-Sodipo noted that the Egba Computer Village is being deliberately designed as a one-stop destination for phone dealers, gadget vendors, and accessory merchants, not only within Abeokuta North but across neighbouring areas.

“This project reflects our unwavering commitment to infrastructure development and economic growth. The level of progress recorded so far is both encouraging and a clear indication that we are on track,” he said.

According to him, the facility will feature 140 lock-up shops and 100 open stalls, strategically structured to boost commercial activities, create employment opportunities, and provide a more organized environment for traders operating within the ICT ecosystem.

The council boss further emphasized that the location of the complex in Olomore was carefully selected to enhance accessibility and stimulate business expansion in the area.

He expressed optimism that the project would soon be ready for commissioning, adding that the initiative forms part of broader efforts by the local government to reposition Abeokuta North as a hub of economic vibrancy.

“With the progress we have seen, we remain focused on delivering this project to completion. We look forward to commissioning it soon as we continue to build a more economically viable Abeokuta North,” Oyegbola-Sodipo added.

The Egba Computer Village, once completed, is expected to significantly transform the local business landscape, offering traders a structured marketplace while strengthening the digital economy in Ogun State.
