APC Ogun Holds Stakeholders’ Meeting, Issues Key Directives Ahead of Party Activities

Date:

The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday held a high-level stakeholders’ meeting at the Cultural Centre, Abeokuta, where party leaders deliberated on internal operations, grassroots mobilization, and upcoming political activities.
The meeting, which commenced at about 12:00 noon, was presided over by the State Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, and had in attendance members of the State Executive Committee, representatives from all 20 local government areas, local government executive chairmen, party chairmen, and 236 ward chairmen across the state.
In his opening remarks, Chief Sanusi issued a firm directive on the utilization of recently disbursed funds to party structures, stressing that such funds are strictly meant for hosting party meetings at ward and local government levels. He warned against any form of diversion for personal use, insisting on strict compliance.
The chairman also disclosed that modalities for the collection of nomination forms would be announced soon, in line with a revised timetable from the party’s national leadership. He further emphasized the importance of regular meetings at the grassroots, describing them as critical to strengthening party cohesion and effectiveness.
During the interactive session, ward chairmen, through representatives from Ado-Odo/Ota, Ijebu Ode, and Obafemi Owode local governments, raised operational concerns which were subsequently addressed by the party’s Administrative Officer, Hon. Bankole.
Speaking on behalf of local government party chairmen, their leader acknowledged previous efforts and pledged improved performance moving forward. Similarly, Alhaja Faidat from Abeokuta North called for consistency in the conduct of ward-level meetings.
Chairman of the Local Government Executive Chairmen, Dr. Mrs. Adeyemo, commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for what she described as unprecedented support to party structures at the grassroots, urging party officers to intensify their efforts. In the same vein, Chief Mrs. Ronke Ogunremi encouraged political appointees to provide more support to party organs, while Chief Mrs. Iyabo Apampa advocated for making such financial interventions mandatory to ensure effective ward operations.
Adding his voice, party elder Alhaji Kasali Kalejaiye from Odogbolu Local Government praised the leadership of the party but stressed the need to keep grassroots elders adequately informed to enhance monitoring and coordination.
In his remarks, the State Organising Secretary, Hon. Yemi Adelani, charged party leaders at the ward and local government levels to step up their performance. He acknowledged ongoing support from political appointees but noted that additional efforts were necessary. He also announced the conclusion of the party’s membership e-registration exercise, confirming that registration agents had completed their assignments.
A major resolution of the meeting was the outright prohibition of unauthorized screening of aspirants at the local government level. The party leadership warned that any individual or group found conducting such exercises ahead of official guidelines from the state organ would face strict sanctions.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment by stakeholders to uphold unity, discipline, and ensure the electoral success of the APC in Ogun State.
