A significant political shift has occurred in Ado-Odo/Ota State Constituency as members and key stakeholders of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) have officially defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), declaring their full support for the governorship ambition of Dr. Bolaji Marie Odusina ahead of the 2027 elections.
The defection, which took place at a well-attended gathering in Ado-Odo/Ota, drew party faithful, community leaders, youth groups, and women associations who cited the need for a more progressive and people-oriented political platform as the driving force behind their decision.
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, constituency leaders noted that their move to ADC was informed by a shared vision for inclusive governance, grassroots development, and credible leadership—qualities they believe are embodied by Dr. Odusina.
“We have carefully assessed the political landscape and the future of Ogun State, and we are convinced that the ADC offers a credible alternative. More importantly, in Dr. Bolaji Marie Odusina, we see competence, compassion, and a clear roadmap for sustainable development,” a spokesperson for the group stated.
The leaders further emphasized that their endorsement of Dr. Odusina was unanimous, describing her as a bridge-builder with the capacity to unify diverse interests across Ogun State while prioritizing economic growth, education, healthcare, and infrastructure.
In her response, Dr. Odusina expressed deep appreciation for the confidence reposed in her by the defecting NNPP members. She described the development as a strong indication that Ogun residents are ready for a new direction anchored on transparency, accountability, and people-first policies.
“I am honored by this endorsement and encouraged by the courage shown by these leaders and supporters who have chosen the path of progress. Together, we will build a better Ogun State that works for everyone,” she said.
Dr. Odusina also reassured the people of Ado-Odo/Ota and Ogun State at large of her commitment to inclusive leadership and participatory governance, promising that no community would be left behind in her administration.
The event concluded with a symbolic presentation of ADC flags to the new members and a collective pledge to mobilize grassroots support across the constituency in preparation for the 2027 gubernatorial race.
