Basira Beere Breaks Silence on Domestic Abuse, Reveals Traumatic End to Failed Marriage

Date:

Popular Yoruba actress Omoshalewa Yusuf, widely known as Basira Beere, has opened up about the painful breakdown of her marriage, revealing disturbing allegations of domestic abuse.

Speaking during a recent appearance on the Talk to B podcast, the actress accused her ex-husband of repeated physical violence, which she says had devastating consequences on her health and personal life.

Basira Beere disclosed that she lost four pregnancies during the course of the abusive relationship, attributing her prolonged stay in the marriage to advice from her parents to remain patient and endure.

Recounting how it all began, she said issues started just days after their wedding. According to her, a minor incident involving a congratulatory message from a male acquaintance escalated into violence.

She also revealed that she contributed significantly to their wedding expenses, believing she was supporting her partner in building a life together. However, she said the marriage quickly turned abusive, with constant beatings that once became so severe that even their landlord reportedly had to intervene.

The actress further claimed that despite seeking help from her parents, she was encouraged to remain in the marriage, while only her siblings, who lived with her, fully understood what she was going through.

She added that the final incident left her badly injured, saying she was “covered in blood” during their last fight, an episode she believes was later leaked to the public.
