Date:

The Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps has concluded a four-day special enforcement operation, codenamed “Operation Guduma,” with the arrest of hundreds of traffic offenders across major highways in the state.

The exercise, which ran from May 18 to May 22, 2026, targeted dangerous road practices including overloading, fake number plates, mixed loading of passengers and goods, dangerous driving, and improperly latched containers.

According to the Command, a total of 185 overloaded vehicles were apprehended during the operation, while 127 motorists were booked for number plate violations. Authorities also recorded two dangerous driving offences, three cases of mixed loading, and four violations involving unlatched containers.

The operation was conducted under directives from the FRSC National Headquarters in Abuja and supervised by Assistant Corps Marshal JO Asaolu, alongside the Ogun State Sector Commander, Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi.

Speaking after the operation, Ogunjobi praised officers for their professionalism and dedication, noting that although the special patrol has ended, enforcement against traffic violations will continue across the state.

He warned that fake number plates remain a major security concern and vowed that the Command would intensify efforts to identify and prosecute offenders.

The Sector Commander also urged motorists, transport unions, and fleet operators to comply with traffic regulations and safety standards to help reduce road crashes and improve safety on Ogun highways.

The FRSC reaffirmed its commitment to proactive road safety administration and the protection of lives
