OGUN POLICE ARREST SECURITY GUARD OVER ALLEGED THEFT OF COMPANY SPARE PARTS

A 32-year-old security guard has been arrested by operatives of the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly stealing motor spare parts belonging to his employer in Ita-Asu Village, via Owode-Egba.

In a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Command, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, the suspect, identified as Friday Ayuba, was apprehended following a report made by the management of the affected company. According to the statement, the suspect was initially intercepted by operatives of the Quick Response Squad (QRS) at the Sagamu Interchange along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway while allegedly attempting to move company property without authorization.

Police investigations revealed that Ayuba, an employee of the company, was found in possession of several motor spare parts suspected to have been unlawfully removed from the firm’s premises. Recovered items included four air controls, two air boosters, two engine seats and two fuel pumps, all reportedly identified by the company as its’ property.

According to investigators, the suspect allegedly admitted to the theft during questioning. Detectives from Owode-Egba Division subsequently visited the scene to carry out further investigation and documentation, while the recovered items were secured as exhibits.

The suspect remains in police custody and is expected to be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.

Commending the vigilance of the company’s management and the coordinated efforts of the Quick Response Squad and officers of Owode-Egba Division, The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni said the successful recovery of the items highlights the importance of prompt reporting and collaboration between the public and law enforcement agencies.

The Commissioner reiterated the Command’s commitment to protecting businesses, critical assets and residents across Ogun State through intelligence-led policing and proactive crime prevention measures.
