The Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State has dismissed reports alleging that the name of its governorship candidate, Oladipupo Adebutu, was missing from the list of candidates released by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The party described the reports as false and misleading, accusing those behind them of attempting to create confusion within its ranks ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
In a statement issued on Thursday, October 29, 2026, and signed by its State Publicity Secretary, Kayode Adebayo, the PDP said there was no official publication or update on INEC’s website confirming Adebutu’s purported exclusion.
The party also stated that INEC had not issued any official statement or held a press briefing announcing the alleged exclusion of Adebutu or the publication of a list containing the name of another individual identified as Patanmi from Gombe State.
The statement, titled “Re: Purported Exclusion of Hon. (Dr.) Oladipupo Adebutu from INEC List — A Fabrication by Political Jobbers,” described the report as an attempt by political opponents to undermine the PDP candidate.
“The said report is false, unfounded, unverified and a figment of the imagination of its mischievous authors,” the party said.
The PDP maintained that Adebutu remained its authentic candidate for the Ogun State governorship election, expressing confidence that his name would appear on the ballot in line with the relevant constitutional provisions, the Electoral Act and INEC guidelines.
The party urged its supporters, members and the general public to disregard the reports and remain focused on its political activities.
It added that the party remained united and committed to its preparations for the forthcoming election, insisting that the alleged controversy would not distract its members.
As of the time of the statement, the PDP said it had not seen any official INEC publication confirming the reported exclusion.
