The Ogun State Police Command has reassured residents that the state remains peaceful and secure, dismissing widespread social media reports alleging bandit attacks, kidnappings, and security breaches across the Ota, Ifo, Atan-Ota, Ijoko, Agbado, and Sango-Ota areas.
According to the Command, thorough security assessments and patrol operations were immediately carried out following reports claiming that schools and communities were under attack. Investigations confirmed that no bandit attack, kidnapping incident, terrorist activity, or security breach occurred in any of the affected locations.
The Police also clarified reports surrounding the recent arrest of 38 foreign nationals in Kajola-Ilese, Atan-Ota. Authorities explained that the individuals, comprising 19 males and 19 females from Côte d’Ivoire, were arrested during an intelligence-led operation and subsequently handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service after failing to provide valid immigration documents.
The Command emphasized that the arrested individuals were not bandits, kidnappers, or terrorists, warning against linking them to criminal activities capable of causing unnecessary panic among residents.
Residents have been urged to remain calm, continue their lawful activities without fear, and verify all security-related information through official channels before sharing.
Police authorities reaffirmed their commitment to protecting lives and property through sustained patrols, intelligence-led operations, and proactive security measures across Ogun State.
