Egba Progressive Women Forum on Tuesday empowered 100 of its members with cash and distributed food items to them.
According to the group, the kind gesture is to support and compensate members for their loyalty and commitment.
The Egba Progressive Women Forum is one of the political groups which is fully in support of the governorship ambition of Senator Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi.
It was gathered that some selected party members from ward 1 to 15 in Abeokuta South Local Government benefited from the kind gesture.
The program which took place at Ijaiye, Oja Ale in Abeokuta had in attendance party leaders and representatives of Caucus 7202.
The Coordinator of the group, Mrs Yinka Yusuf while speaking with newsmen said the gesture was to give back to the members so that they can show more commitment towards the development of the association and support for the APC governorship candidate, Yayi ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to her, the group comprises of Egba women who are in support of APC and the governorship candidate.
She also added that part of the reasons for the empowerment program is to celebrate the victory of Senator Yayi as consensus governorship candidate for the ruling party in the State.
“We are here today to support some of our members with cash and food items, we have distributed money to 100 members and we gave them rice. This is not our first time doing this, we have been doing this for years but today’s program is different because we are doing it in support of the next governor of Ogun State, Senator Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi. We are here also to celebrate his victory during the primary elections which has made him to emerge as the governorship candidate for the All Progressives Congress, APC in Ogun State. We want to thank our amiable governor, Prince Dr Dapo Abiodun for choosing Senator Yayi as his successor. This is a welcome development in the State. We want to assure Yayi that Egba Progressive Women Forum will mobilise massive votes for him in 2027. We have been telling our members to go and get their voter’s cards and they are already doing that and as the coordinator, i will not rest in ensuring they all get their voter’s cards because it is our joint aim to ensure Yayi wins at the polls.
Meanwhile, a former chairmanship aspirant in Abeokuta South, Barrister Kehinde appreciated the group’s support for Yayi, assuring them that the Senator will not let them down.
He urged those who are yet to get their PVCs to go and get before is late, saying that without their voter’s cards they wont be able to vote during general elections.
Barrister Kehinde also used the opportunity of the program to call all Ogun residents to rally support for Senator Yayi ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The APC Chieftain also doled out cash to aged members in support of the group.
