Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu has inspected a solar-powered Digital Learning Centre under construction at Ansarudeen Grammar School, Ishaga Orile, in Abeokuta North LGA.
A team from his office, led by Hon. Fasiu Alimi, carried out the inspection on Wednesday to check progress and confirm the work meets approved standards.
The facility is a 2025 NITDA intervention under the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, secured through Salisu’s office for Ogun Central. Once finished, it will offer free internet access and round-the-clock solar power, tackling both electricity and connectivity gaps in the community.
Salisu revealed the Ishaga Orile centre is just one of several digital projects rolling out across the district this September. His team also inspected a similar project in Ewekoro on Wednesday, with more planned for Odeda, Obafemi-Owode and other LGAs.
He said spreading the projects across rural and urban areas alike reflects his push to keep digital development from being concentrated only in major towns.
As Chairman of the Senate Committee on ICT and Cybersecurity, Salisu reaffirmed his focus on equipping young people with the tools and connectivity needed to compete in the digital economy.
